What kind of new things are likely to happy with Linux in 2025?

Are there any planned improvements, or fixes?

What about changes to Cinnamon? Would be especially curious if this version has discussion of making some adjustments or improvements.

Trying to stay on top of stuff as best as possible.

Looking forward to what lies ahead.

Happy New Year to you also.
Cinnamon improvements on the way in 22.1 I've been using it since betta of LM 22.1 was announced. Though they are not dramatic they do add to the DE. Night light works well here. Cheers!

There's still 2 days left?
It aint over 'til the fat lady sings.

I might yet do something worthwhile this year. Wait... never mind. My dog's callin me.

It's a bit early.

To answer your question, I think we may make a good run on getting 5% of the desktop OS market. I do not expect large percentages of people to move to Linux because of Win10 expiring, but we'll likely get a few new users.

That's great news, where did you get that figure though? it's pretty high.

From the pundits recently celebrating that we reached 4%. They drew their data from things like website statistics.

Good health and happiness for the new year

Happy New Year all... Though we're about 12-13 days behind the real date...

...If my reasoning is correct:
A sidereal year is 365.256363004 days so I used 2024 as an epoch and then just multiplied the difference in a sidereal year vs a tropical year (total of 0.006363004), by the epoch. Someone with a more scientific background may be able to enlighten me if my method's wrong, lol.

We, here in the West we use the Gregorian calendar, but I have to think that this is real bullshit, because the year should have 13 months of 28 days, and for example the Ethiopian calendar is almost similar. But if we only did a calculation: since the Gregorian calendar 1582 came into force, what year and on what day would we be?

Up to date AI might know though. ;)

Reasons not to use ChatGPT

ChatGPT is not "intelligence", so please don't call it "AI".
I define "intelligence" as being capable of knowing or understanding,at least within some domain. ChatGPT cannot know or understandanything, so it is not intelligence. It does not know what itsoutput means. It has no idea that words can mean anything.

I call it a "bullshit generator"because it generates output "with indifference to the truth".

The same applies to many other "generative systems", for the samereasons

The widespread public error of attributing intelligence to thosesystems leads millions of people to a misplaced trust for them. Please join me in spreading the word that people should not trustsystems that mindlessly play with words to be correct in what thosewords mean.
