Just a quick question here. Recently I switched to Mega because they have better privacy, cheaper plans, and faster upload speeds across the board (some may have one superior aspect, this is a combo across the board) which are things I need since I'm now backing up a fair amount of data and will eventually be backing up virtual hdds, too. Anyway, the web UI is okay, but having a cliant is better, obviously. Rclone doesn't seem to support Mega either.

Anyway, two questions:

1) Can't get megatools to work. I try a basic ls (megals -u "my email" -p "my password which is bad practice" /Root) and I get:
ERROR: Can't login to mega.nz: API call 'us' failed: Server returned error EEXPIRED
If someone could help me troubleshoot this, then this would be optimal!

2a) Anyone used Megasync? How safe/stable is it? I know it's open source, but a) the precompiled package isn't, and b) I can't spend hours sifting through code to audit it if I'm to build it from source. How well is it audited, anyway? Can't find much online. What always makes me wary about any software is if it's not in Debian's repos (it's in AUR, but there's a lot in AUR that I'd never, ever install). I don't need it breaking my system either (oldstable).
2b) Any trusted place to grab an appimage? I'd prefer this to a system-wide installation of an alien package (which is why I tend to build aliens from source without installing them and then just call them from their full path -- of course appimages save me a lot of complications/hassle here). Things don't look terribly promising. I don't do flatpak, etc. IMO, appimage is the most secure method to run alien stuff because it's a single unit which can be isolated completely.

Thanks in advance

When you created the account did you use the terminal or Web site? Might want to try creating through megareg - but most likely will get an error since the email account already exists
also if you have "" around your password try removing those quotation marks and try again

Have not seen an AppImage just a FlatHub although I seen discussion about making an AppImage but still no headway on that - https://github.com/meganz/MEGAsync/issues/345

you can get the deb package from here - https://mega.io/desktop

Appreciate the reply...

It's my current account, so, yep, registered online. I know the megatools manpages make no mention of using an existing account, apparently you can.

Yeah, I'm just concerned about a system-wide install. I usually prefer not to risk breaking things on my work machine. I'm still on oldstable ATM.
