Well, in the past I'd have agreed with that statement but I've been using Q4OS for like 3 months or so, the KDE version and on boot RAM usage is around 350mb, and it's installed in a USB stick!! It runs pretty fast too, considering. I'm writing this from it; chromium + 3 tabs open, cmus running in the terminal, dolphin and claws-mail: RAM usage is around 950mb. Yeah, I know most of these apps are really lighweight but still ... I'm growing really fond of this distro apart from a couple of Q4OS tools is basically a Debian install with KDE as DE which is one of the things I like the most too.Agreed, KDE is a RAM hog and OP has an Atom Processor.
I remember those times too and look at us now! Some people can download a 4GB file less than 10 mins! For me it'd take like 2 hours or so, my internet's speed isn't that fast; in a good day or from 2-3 a.m up to 9-10 a.m max speed is around 500-550kbps but most of the times is around 300-400kbps and even slower which is a pain if downloading big filesI remember when downloading an mp3 4mb took 20 minutes and the worst part is someone picking up the phone right at 99% with no resumability
