Hi:

I've been looking for days how to install a yellow or red circle for my mouse pointer and I'm not finding anything for the Mate desktop. I also looked for mouse themes and couldn't find what I was looking for.
Checked in Synaptic for cursor themes and nothing there either.

I'm looking for this for my LMDE 4 distro and also for my Debian 9 Mate distro.

At best I found the Tux Pointer for my Linux Mint 19.3 XFCE.

Any suggestions?

Evening, Alex :)

Is this in place of an arrowhead pointer or circling the pointer?

Visual aid or a preference?

Wizard out for the evening.

Have you seen these? Might be something there you can use. Looks like a 'cursor-theme' may be the easiest route.

That AskUbuntu post seems to work. The answer about halfway down the page titled "Highlight Pointer Using Cursor Themes".
I went to https://www.gnome-look.org/p/999801/ and downloaded the "bDMZ" cursor theme - extracted the contents into an empty folder - and then opened /usr/share/icons as root and dragged and dropped the "ybDMZ" folder into the /usr/share/icons folder. There are about 6 other folders of differing cursor colors to choose from. The "ybDMZ" is the 'yellow' one.

By golly - it worked!
Attached is a screen shot. See if this is what you were looking for.

I used the Linux Mint Themes Settings Panel - Mouse Pointer tab to choose the "ybDMZ" pointer.

This is for a circle around the pointer.
A visual aid:-

Thanks for the links Vari.
I'll go through those, see what works and let you know.

I like the look of Vrai's solutions. And I use Vokoscreen as my go to video producer for tutorials, but wasn't aware of that feature.

I haven't forgotten about this thread.
I'm looking for a home and have other stuff going on.

Try Australia, we're friendly enough

I did try Vokoscreen as it will highlight the mouse cursor. Problem was I couldn't get it to always be visible and follow the pointer as it moved.

I followed your instructions Vrai in post #4-

It didn't work for me. Plus I had to use the terminal to move bDMZT as root in the terminal to /usr/share/icons manually.

I placed bDMZT in the right directory--

Not sure how to get the pointer theme to work.
This is Debian 10 Mate.

I tried renaming the folder bDMZT to Themes and it didn't help.
