Just buy a phone. There are some inexpensive options online that comes bundled with a service plan.

Well, there are plenty of articles and videos promoting workarounds, so what the Terms and Conditions statement says isn't really the point. My issue is that all that I have attempted hasn't worked!

I have been trying for two years with no success. I have a laptop which I can connect to the Internet via free wifi when I visit public libraries etc.

I have been attempting to follow various instructions which I have found on the web as well as YouTube videos, including connecting with sites where I can receive SMS messages to a free phone number that can be viewed on a web page (such as https://freephonenum.com/ and https://www.receivesms.org/), but I never receive the login code when I request it from the Telegram Linux desktop app. The only thing I can figure is that it assumes I am already registered. But I only see options to "log in", none to "register" or "sign up".

I'm pretty much at my wits end, so please help if you know something that can get me going on Telegram!

I didn't try this yet, but maybe you can use Anbox to install Telegram on your Linux PC.

I'm unsure what you mean by "the login option". I can't use a phone because I don' have access to a phone.

I don't suppose you can tell me why your first post would be in this thread offering such a personal thing as use of your cell phone number? Nor can I see why OP would want it, given that it'd mean you'd ultimately be able to do things like reset the password.
