It's an easy enough task for even a beginner to undertake...

Feedback is awesome.

*sighs*

So, this article is kinda a duplicate - as I've written about how to do this before.

Normally, I check before even starting an article, 'cause I've written a lot and I'm forgetful. I'm sure I checked this time - but I bet I typed "host name" for my search term. Probably... I'm guessing that's the case.

In my defense, I've written a butt-load of stuff in fairly short order. I think a duplicate here and there can be forgiven.

Oh, it's bound to happen again at some point...

okay, so here is one thing you could do differently:

with the "<new_hostname>" argumemt, remove the <>, because using those just generates a syntax error if you are like me and "stupid enough" to think that should be typed :D

but otherwise, thanks that's cool, i can choose something other tham "system product name"

LOL No, those are gonna stay as part of my internal style guide. I can't really change it now, without making hundreds of edits - or one heck of a few masterful MySQL commands. And I ain't got the skills for that.

So, the brackets stay. Also, you can (usually) pick your hostname during the installation process.
