Greetings.

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with a solid state drive (SSD). The laptop runs Windows 10, which I don't want too keep. The problem is that neither Debian or Ubuntu will recognize my SSD. This is how I solved the problem. I'm not sure if this will work if you want to dual boot Windows and Linux
  1. Upgraded my Laptop's BIOS to the latest version.
  2. Ensured that my SSD had the latest firmware
  3. In the BIOS|System Configuration, under SATA Operation changed the setting from RAID to AHCI.
  4. In the BIOS, moved the USB drive to the top of the boot sequence.
Both Debian and Ubuntu will now recognize my SSD and I am off to the races.
