I have installed Ubuntu 20.04 on an aging laptop. But the wifi does not work with Linux, for some reason, so I therefore bought a USB wifi thing for it.
However... Apparently, the USB wifi needs to be installed in some way. I was hoping that it would immediately just start to work, like a remote keyboard or mouse does. But if I just attach it, the computer seems not to notice at all that it's there, as nothing happens. There is a CD in the box, but its content is for Windows and Mac.
So does anyone know a way to make it work with Ubuntu?

Depending on what USB WiFi dongle you purchased you will have to install a driver for it.

Here are usb wifi devices that work with LInux.

On this list is TP-LINK N150. Mine is a TP-LINK AC600.
Isn't it strange that mine does not work, when that one does?

Yeah that is a little strange.
I think it depends on what kernel you have.

You can try installing the driver and see if it works.

IF not than you may have to purchase the TP-Link N150.

Hmm. The purpose of that command was to find the name of available wifi adapters from the command line.

What is the output of
Code:
lspci | grep Network
AND
Code:
lsusb
