Hello,
Graphic card:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Tahiti XT [Radeon HD 7970/8970 OEM / R9 280X] [1002:6798]
I got this error message when i tried to install ATI drivers on Debian stretch 9.4 i already know that the AMD official drivers are outdated because i get this error message.
=====================================================================
AMD Proprietary Driver Installer/Packager
=====================================================================
error: Detected X Server version 'XServer 1.19.2_64a' is not supported. Supported versions are X.Org 6.9 or later, up to XServer 1.10 (default:v2:x86_64:lib:XServer 1.19.2_64a:none:4.9.0-6-amd64
Installation will not proceed.
My question is what should i do to get my ATI drivers to work again?
1. Is it possible to downgrade Xorg on Debian stretch 9.4?
2. Will amd-gpu pro drivers work?
3. should i install debian 8 jessie instead?
please help me i really don't want to go back too Debian 8 again. Sorry for this noob question i would be glad if someone helps me
