I am wondering if there is a way Linux can make distro installations with out connecting to a wired internet connection.

One may either download the ISO for a distro not requiring an internet connection to install, like the Slackware-based distros Salix or Vector, or purchase not only the distro install disc but also DVDs containing repositories from a vendor such as OSdisc.
