On the youtube front, freetube is worth considering. It works like a browser itself. It's used here extensively, but occasionally it borks until it gets fixed. It's here: https://freetubeapp.io/

I believe that FreeTube uses Invidious internally.

Nice one but just like Reverso limited in available languages, my language is not on the list.
It also doesn't auto translate as you type, you need to click translate button each time.
There is also no audio feedback for words or text to hear how to pronounce the text or a word.

One major downside common to to all alternative translators including the one I'm using right now (Lingva translate) is that it doesn't offer spell check suggestions within translator window when you paste or type some text.

While there doesn't seem to be equivalent to google translate it ultimately boils down to these features:
1. Auto translate
2. Audio feedback
3. Spell check
4. File translation
5. Additional context or alternatives for selected portion of a word, ex. etymology
6. Rich in available languages

Lingva translate supports points 1, 2 and 6, but lacks other 3 features just like most other free translators I've tried.

You're right, I should provide that detail but due to privacy reasons I don't share my location anywhere online.
Sorry maybe I'm too paranoid but it has already become a habit, I hope you'll understand.

I'll check any translator recommendation that is shared and is welcome.

I'm not sure I fully understand your need to stop using gtranslator
but... have you tried using Chromium browser (not Chrome)? + private window. you can set up a cookie rejection and continue to use gtranslator.

Google translate is best translator but if you not want you can use bing in replace of google.

lol, he was an obvious troll or something worse who ignored all replies he used to receive to his threads.
He was seemingly doing it by purpose only to upset others.

I'm nowhere close to such person, although I admit sometimes my responses are not friendly but that's because I can't understand stubborn people who are lazy to answer questions or to read more about something that's not easily shared.

Google translate is best translator but if you not want you can use bing in replace of google.

Thank you for suggestion, reason I want to dump google translate is because it's google, unfortunately MS is not any better regarding user privacy.

1. I did that 2 years ago. In 99% of the time I find what I'm looking for, so I wouldn't call it "slow". For text searches the Duck is the best. For image searches images.yandex.com is the best. Try it and you'll find out why - mostly because Yandex don't filter anything and it even shows you larger sizes of the images, if they're available anywhere on the internet.

2. As for your question, the best alternative is a person who speaks the language you're trying to translate. But if you don't have that, the next best alternative is Bing's translate. I know it's Microsh*t's translator but for some reason it translates a little better and more accurate than that of Google's. Google often make me think that their translations have been written by 5 year old kids with zero knowledge of their own native language, let alone any knowledge of English...

1. I don't use Bing directly, so I've never seen a captcha. It's possible it asked you to solve captcha if you sent too many requests too quickly and the server thought you might be a bot.
I use Bing through this Firefox extension:

2. I wouldn't say it's not convenient. When I come across an American slang that I don't know, I simply type the slang (or add " ", if it contains more than one word) accompanied by "meaning" after the slang I'm looking for. Like that slang "piss off" (I entered this: "piss off" meaning), it was funny to find out it means to anger someone, mostly because I know what the first word means in principle.
I guess it's all about if you know HOW to search. If you do, searching becomes a child's play.

This extension is truly amazing, thanks for sharing.
I'm also using right click translate built-in Firefox translation, but this one is much more advanced, ofc. not taking into account that Firefox translator is offline.

I use Linux Mint 22 and 21.3

In the Software Manager for both there is a translator named : Dialect

I find it quite good, with good language choices

There is a flathub offering and a system package....I chose and use the System Package
