Issues booting

I downloaded the Linux mint 22.1 .iso file via torrent yesterday at the same time as I was typing my reply at #19.
The download was good. I used it to boot to a usb stck and then Installed it fully on a ssd, with no dramas. The OS ran well, with no problems.

This makes me think that perhaps the problem lies in the software that does the integrity check ?

I used the same verify tool to check the Linux Lite 7.4 ISO and got this...

Can you run your chosen distribution in "live test mode" from the USB pendrive? How old is the Acer?

Doesn't matter how it's downloaded...the Mint ISO is bad...

Bob,
Just wanted to let you know that I tried installing mint again and still had the same issues. My iso verification was fine. So It may just be the computer. I have an older lenovo yoga 15 and the bios seems to have more options than the new one. It is the old school keyboard only control. I assume that it is just not playing nice with the new computer because it installed fine on the old one.

enovo yoga 15
is this the 2015 I5 with hybrid graphics ? If it is then i think the problem may lay with the Nvidia GeForce 840M

The one that isn't working is a 2024 Lenvo Yoga 7 Intel Core Ultra 7 16 inch integrated intel graphics.
The one that does work is my old computer, which is a Yoga 730 i7-8550u also with intergrated intel graphics

That is really odd considering that all other ones that I have tried, POP OS, Ubuntu, Ubuntu cinnamon, fedora, and parrot os (with the exception of sound), have all worked without the booting issues that I have encountered with mint os. I have settled for POP OS with the cinnamon desktop environment. The camera works and the microphone. I guess I should just be happy with my current setup as it is working very well. Thanks for the extra insight.

POP!_OS is really meant to be used on System76's hardware and is known to be problematic on generic hardware.

My suggestion is that, if you want Cinnamon, you take a look at Ubuntu Cinnamon. That's just Ubuntu with different defaults, so you're still in the Ubuntu ecosystem - which is what POP and Mint are both based on.

If that works, you're likely to get a better experience than you'll get with POP.

I took your advice and it is a smoother experience.
