Hi All
I've just installed Fedora and there seems to be some conflicts when trying to install ffmpeg (to watch movies in browser I believe) per the below and Blender won't run either:
sudo dnf install ffmpeg
Last metadata expiration check: 0:14:28 ago on Thu 23 Feb 2023 19:03:40 GMT.
Error:
Problem: problem with installed package libswscale-free-5.0.2-1.fc36.x86_64
- package ffmpeg-libs-5.0.1-3.fc36.x86_64 conflicts with libswscale-free provided by libswscale-free-5.0.2-1.fc36.x86_64

- conflicting requests

(try to add '--allowerasing' to command line to replace conflicting packages or '--skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages)
i haven't tried the allowerasing (might cause other apps to lose dependencies?) and that seems like a lot of files to skip!
I also found Blender crashes each time I try to start it - I installed it via the default software package manager then uninstalled when it crashed on start up (gave basic error message on crash), I then tried installing via "sudo dnf install blender" (installed ok without errors in terminal) and it still crashes on start up but without any basic error message upon crashing now.
VLC installed fine with sudo dnf and runs fine.
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks
Alex
Update
I just tried opening a Blender file and Blender opened it!
Still strange how it won't open from the launcher though...
