Issues installing kali linux?

So I originally tried burning kali is full to a disk, took quite a while, however when I used it the screen was just black.

I then burned a copy of kali mini, and it worked right away?

Does this mean I either downloaded or burnt kali linux full incorrectly? Or could there be some other reason for it not working?

Is this normal? I have the mini version now but isn't it missing tons of tools that come with the full one?
