It appears that Slackware had a birthday yesterday.

I started with Slackware in the old days. When it came on about 25 floppies. I'm too lazy now :) But happy birthday slackers.

last time i used it its pretty straight forward; except apart from slpkg http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/system/slpkg/?search=slpkg package management if your objective is just to get pkgs and their deps with minimum effort ,is for this day and age, pretty tedious .

if you want to be hands on and maybe lean more towards command line than gui and objective is learning I still recommend it . Also their could be a vacancy for maintaining this package if anybody interested http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/academic/latex2html/?search=latex2html

Cap Sensible has a point. I did a thread a while back on using slackbuilds, using FLDIGI as an example. Check it out!
for the full explanation.
