Sorry David, but I didn't like it at all, to my mind they cut so much out what was left seemed to me totally disjointed

There's no need to be sorry. You don't have to like the movie. I can't imagine how long it'd have been had they not cut out a bunch of stuff. Though, I'd not mind a series that stayed true to the story as much as possible.
