Linux operating system

As you should have gathered by now, you are approaching your 5th year as a member, if you ask for simple instructions someone will comply to your request, If you just ask a question, most of us will see how long you have been a member and possibly make the wrong assumption and use some techspeak
Yes, I do have a fear of that "techspeak". But go ahead and throw it at me anyway. I will call a timeout if I don't understand something.

I started with Ubuntu in 2006 and have been using it as my main driver since. I've dabbled in Debian, but Ubuntu has always been easier to use. I have worked on RHEL systems professionally, but I don't care much to use them outside of specific projects.

Which year, I do not know. Which distribution, I can not remember.
But I had to buy a bit less then 40 x 1.4MB Floppy-Disks for installation (perhaps 1995 ?).
I did use it for my Master-Work, the Company where I wrote it, used Unix, and there f77 (Fortran 77) for so named "Application-Programmer" (Only for the "system programmer" it was aloud to use "c").
Linux had the f77 compiler as default preinstalled.
