Flat icons have no depth, they are simply flat – just as the name suggests – and it uses two–dimensional (2D) elements that are minimalistic.
Lololol!!!You might find non-flat icons by searching for the term Skeumorphic (think mid-2000's icons with depth, 3D, and that resemble objects rather than flat representations)
I still have a soft spot for skeumorphism myself, I loved the Aqua design style of interface and icons in macOS X on my old iMac, though the limited color palette pixel art icons of the 90's and early 2000's also have a place in my heart!Lololol!!!
Man, what ARE we coming to, huh? At one time, that's just how icons were. They were the same no matter what you ran.....and now, because a new fashion has taken over, the "old" type have a fancy name to differentiate them from the "new" type.
Ah, well. That's evolution, I guess.....or "progress", as some would have it..! Generations come, generations go; things change, as time passes.
Nothing to see here, folks. Moving on.....
Mike.
