OK...... You may as well be asking how long a piece of string is - you haven’t given us a lot to go on, other than minecraft is crashing.

This is not the psychic hotline!!

What Linux distro are you using?
What are the specs of the hardware it’s running on? What graphics card are you using? Are you using free graphics card drivers? Or proprietary drivers?

Also minecraft is a Java application. Are you running it on the Oracle Java JDK/JRE runtime? Or the openJDK?

Give us some information that we can actually use and somebody might be able to help you!!

sorry
i'm running a ryzen 5 2600x and a Radeon RX 480 with the free drivers. i have 16 Gigs of ram installed (its a 8x2 config if that matters)
I'm using Manjaro and the openJDK runtime, i have tried the oracle JRE but it still crashes

Okay, now we’re getting somewhere!! Ha ha!

Hardware specs look good, tons of RAM, looks like it should be able to run minecraft quite comfortably.

Have you tried running minecraft in the terminal and capturing the output in a file?

e.g.
Open a terminal and run:
Bash:
minecraft &> ~/minecraft-session.txt &
That will run minecraft as a background process in the terminal and will write a log-file to your home directory.

When minecraft starts up, run it until it crashes.
After the crash, open up the log file with a pager/viewer (e.g. less or w3m), or your favourite text editor and take a look at the lines towards the bottom of the file.
Hopefully, you’ll see some helpful error messages, or warning messages. Or at least some clues to the reason for the crash.

It might be some Java related problems, or network related problems, or a graphics card/driver related problem. Or it may actually be a bug in minecraft itself.

okay so i did this a bit differently i started mc from mutlimc (it has an option to view the logs while its running and the minecraft command did nothing. also when it freezes the machine has to be reset or else it will wait for the java process to shut down, for infinity all meaninful data i got was this after the crash
Client logs:
Code:
Saving all world maps.
AL lib: (EE) alc_cleanup: 1 device not closed
everything else was just me changin my gamemode
Server Logs were just me changin my gamemode.
what i did notice is that the server shut down but now i realise i had to do "killall java" wich means that the server was also killed

Might be worth taking a look at your cpu stats, system load and disk usage while minecraft is running. Maybe it’s a memory leak in minecraft, or some other problem with Java’s garbage collection or a race condition, or some network related problems....
Unfortunately, there’s not really a lot for us to go on..... I haven’t done much with Java in the last 12 years or so. Not sure if there are any profiling apps, or debuggers that might help..... I don’t think gdb works with Java!

:) G'day @MaxiMal_98 and welcome to linux.org

I am not a Gamer, but I'll ask a question or two:

1. Did mc work multiplayer at any time, that is, did it just develop the problem, or has it been that way since the beginning?

2. Do you use Timeshift?

3. What DE of Manjaro are you using?

Cheers
