Hi, I'm using Linux Mint OS since past few months . Everything works fine and smooth in this OS. But when I poweroff it , sometime it freezes with mint logo (most of the time it shuts down normally). I tried a lot of solutions available on the internet. Here I've a picture of the freeze which include kernel panic message. I'm attathcing my hardware and OS details also . Please help me to fix it .

Do you have VirtualBox installed? I came across a similar error and the culprit was VBox.

Which solutions did you try from the Internet ?

The reason I asked if updated was I experienced my own pc not shutting down properly. Only twice.

I think (i am not sure) it was linked to an update. Two or three days later it had corrected itself and has not reoccured in over a fortnight.

I am also running linux Mint (cinnamon) 20.2

I will watch with interest to see if anyone else has experienced this and whether a solution is presented.

I find LM20.2 an absolute joy to use.

Please go to a terminal and type this command
Code:
inxi -Fxxxzr
then post the results back here.
This will give us an overview of your system and may point to a solution.

First with that machine i would go back to the 5.4 kernel. 5.11 has know problems with some I3 processors. Did you originally have problems with the 5.4 kernel?

Actually I installed this OS only 1 month ago, since then I'm having this problem often. I don't know when I upgraded my kernel.

This LM20.2 was released with Kernel 5.4

You had problems with it then ?

Did you verify the download before the initial installation ?

Is the above answer meaning that you are not sure if you had problems with it from the start or is it an answer to did you verify the download?

you can re-install the 5.4 kernel by going to the update manager and clicking on view and select 5.4 kernel and install it if it's not already installed. If it is installed you can reboot to it via the grub menu which you can access by hitting the left shift key or the esc key depending on if it a UEFI install or bios. then go to advanced and select the 5.4 kernel. If that works delete the 5.11 kernel in the update manager so it will not be updated.
