I just came across a new Linux distribution today, it uses Atomic updates and has it's own package manager. I haven't tried it yet and I don't know much about it, but they offer Gnome and Cosmic as DE's.

Check their website for more information:

I actually had to look up 'Atomic updates'. I'm probably not alone. That's jargon that is unfamiliar to me, though the principles aren't at all new.

That's a good definition, I think. It's nice and easy to understand.

It does look like an interesting project. Right now, the only download I can find is using GNOME. So, I'm no going to play with it at this time.

They'll seemingly add COSMIC later. I've played with that before, in an earlier alpha release. It's a lot like GNOME to me. It's from the System76 folks and can be found here:

I'm not a huge fan of that - but I haven't played with it and, to be fair, it was still in alpha when I did play with it in a VM. Though, it's still in alpha stage. They're just up to version 5 of said alpha. It hasn't even reached beta or RC status. It may improve.

I sort of like the idea of this distro. If I can automate the updates, that'd be even better. However, I hope they get around to releasing the distro with more DE choices. If not, I hope they foster a community that makes said DEs easily available.

So sort of VanillaOS based kinda idea?
