I looked into it this AM after reading up on this post. Definitely going to check it out for studies sakes for sure though. I admire the fact that it's dedicated to a co-creator as well; very respectable.

Not being familiar with RHEL systems outside of my studies; I'm intrigued. Is Oracle like the Microsoft of Linux Distro's or something?
No, Oracle tends screw you over with their licensing.
But in short it's basically this.

One of these days, I'll detail how I ended up in court against Oracle. Today is not that day. I probably shouldn't talk about it, 'cause who knows what they'd try these days.

Well, today can be that day, but I'll be pretty vague...

I'm just one of many thousands of companies sued by Oracle.

We won, for the record. It wasn't about winning or losing, it was about them trying to penalize us for dropping them when they failed to meet their contracted goals well beyond the time frame agreed upon. I'd nicely agreed to extensions, 'cause their database stuff is REALLY good, or at least it was at the time. But, their techs, contractors, and consultants were unable to actually make it work for us.

They probably could have, if they'd actually worked at it. Let's just say that those folks who entered our office weren't too afraid of doing nothing of value. It was almost as if they prided themselves on the work they didn't do. This was very, very expensive and having a negative impact on a large number of my employees.

So, after like the third six month extension, I personally sent them packing after revoking their accounts and letting security know not to let them back in the building. About a month letter, we were served. They wanted to say it was us who had violated the terms of the contract, but we had pretty clear documentation to support us.

We received a satisfactory judgement.

@Brickwizard - Wikipedia will have a much-more updated version of that. Look up 'Linux family tree'.

Hmm... I'll dig it out for us. I'm not sure if I can post it here, 'cause it's an .svg and it's REALLY big.

Hopefully that works. Otherwise click this link.

you're telling me, I think I need a 54-inch screen for that version

I figured the warning was appropriate.

That's a whole lotta Linux going on.

I think it may need to be updated. Like I didn't spot Rocky when going through the Red Hat lineage. I may have just missed it, 'cause there's a lot to it, but I suspect it's not all that easy to keep updated.
