He hasn't been around lately and now I know why. His real name was Glenn Green.

Here is his Linux.org profile:

Here is his obituary:

I hosted the Carson City LUG for them. They contacted me in an effort to recover a backup of the site because the domain name has expired and they'll have to do some work to get it back online. I can assist with this.

He was not an avid poster but did post some. He was a curious individual and managed to figure out a bunch once he was started.

This is the 2nd time I've had to make this sort of notification - the third if we count other sites. I don't mind but we Linux users are often fairly old. I am going to assume that I'll have to make this notification again some day.

If you have not thought of it, you might want to make some plans to let the forum (and other sites as wanted) know that you've passed away.

We had a couple of messages swapped between us. He was ok. RIP big fella.

That was a lovely obituary.

I enjoyed his occasional input.

RIP @PsychoHermit

There will need to be changes to the Carson City LUG entry here on this site.

The domain name expired and was renewed by a company charging a lot of money to get the domain name back. This is common practice. Depending on the registrar, you get a week or so of leeway, but that's it.

I have contact with the 'leader' of the LUG and will inform you when I learn more. I've strongly suggested that they just buy a new domain name. They're not that reliant on search engine traffic and it won't take long to get the new site indexed by search engines.

I also 'cheated'. They wanted a backup from the site. I just gave 'em access via an alternative route - so they have all the data I had for them. So, that's a hurdle crossed.

Anyhow, I'll need an admin to make some adjustments when it is time. I may convince them to generate a new account and 'take over' the listing for the LUG - perhaps by removing the old one and them adding a new one. I'll cross that bridge when it's time.

I do remember him occasionally popping on to site RIP Glenn

R.I.P. Glenn! Sad when someone passes will be praying for his family also.
