Hey guys ive been learning more about how to manage processes. What i want to know is how does one thin out their processses to the absolute nececerry tasks???
When i hit top command it tells me theres 186 tasks (143 sleeping) but when i use htop command it tells me theres 108 tasks! I am confortable killing tasks or programs that i know such as firefox but there are a lot of processes i dont know what they are or what they do.
Why this difference in process numbers between top and htop even though they do the same job of showing system processes???
Are all these tasks necerry???? is there a way to thin it down to say 10 essential tasks????? I realise processes like proces1 (init) or sytemd is an essential process and killing it would probably crash the system?????? (havnt tried to kill process 1 or systemd yet!)
