I just installed Ubuntu 24.04 LTS yesterday Jul 12, 2024. For some reason the system has froze a couple times, LibreOffice writer has frozen several times. Lodging in to several different sites the system froze causing a need to force closure. Is anyone else experiencing this problem. This is with a clean install of Ubuntu 24.04 from 18.04 (complete system wipe)

I think you need to disable Wayland and enable Xorg and see if that makes any difference.

Step 4 in the link below tells how to change from Wayland to Xorg.

That's what I would try first.

Intel HD2000 processor graphics may not work well with Wayland.

Do yourself a favor and download and install Linux Mint. Any current version will work just fine.

Linux Mint is okay but not my primary operating system. I currently have about 6 different operating systems. I have used Ubuntu the most. Each operating system brings different things to play with. thanks for the thought !!!

it did make a difference. Thanks for the assistance.
Cool glad it worked.
I've also had compatibility issues with Wayland and Intel HD2000 Processor graphics.

I like Wayland although it seems to have some compatibility issues with older graphics hardware.

G'day Hansel, it's good to hear from you. :)

it did make a difference.

If you have not already done so, I would try retracing my steps with those sites and apps, and if the glitches no longer occur, consider the change away from Wayland a solution.

In that case, I would (install if necessary and) run a Timeshift snapshot and comment it to safeguard the working install.

When you consider the problem solved, you can go to your first Post, click Edit and No Prefix and mark it as Solved.

Cheers

I just tried inxi -Fxz on my Kubuntu install and it said, command not found. However, it then notified me that I could sudo apt install inxi, so I did. Yeah!
