Hi Everyone,

I am using Raspbian and trying to install this program called bazel. This is the error: "Failed to write core dump. Core dumps have been disabled. The enable core dumping, try "ulimit -c unlimited" before starting java again". Unfortunately ulimit does not work on Raspberry pi. Is there any way to set a limit to either unlimited or less?

Hi @TCRatius and my disclaimer is that I know next to nothing about Raspbian, Pi &c.

That being said, the outputs of

Code:
uname -a

and

Code:
java -version

... whether you are using Jessie, Wheezy ... these might assist in your search.

A Google search under "Failed to write core dump. Core dumps have been disabled. To enable core dumping, try "ulimit -c unlimited" before starting java again raspbian solved" reveals articles and threads which might assist.

But in particular, a search under "raspbian ulimit"

https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=162418

indicates ulimit CAN be used with Raspbian.

This causes me to wonder whether you have a module loaded, or some other configuration issue which is preventing it from operating? Perhaps a reinstall might solve.

Hope this helps rather than hinders. Good luck and

Avagudweegend.

Thanks mate, sometimes just the parameters of the search helps a lot, thanks for the advice. Something with coding I'm learning which knowing how to ask the right question in a search is massive in output of what you want. The hard thing for me is I'm trying to learn both linux and python at the same time to hopefully end up with a job :) was a registered nurse before this. All in good time.

You have a good weekend too.

And go the Cowboys! Townsville Cowboys that is. NRL :)

Cheers Again, and also thank you for your patience.

ps Something I'm looking forward to
