Been a long time since I worked with Mysql, but I suspect that the difference comes down to M*DB being considerably more sophisticated DBs than the fairly simple Sqlite, putting cacheing to good use in memory. Could be wrong, but I have tried Pi4's and a 5 with Sqlite MANY times and get only pitiful throughput. At first I assumed it was Perl honking up the speed, being a scripting language, but when I experimented with raw C, I got an improvement but it certainly didn't match what I get on an ordinary PC.
Whatever. I still really like PI's for my projects. I just don't use them if there will be any major data chomping.
Or... Could be that I am a lousy database programmer.
