While I am preparing to put my first Linux machine in to production I am also preparing for file storage. Two things that I have always done for my own systems and all of my clients. Well not “always” but at least since the mid-90's.

1. OS and installable programs - only - on the main system drive. In my case in the Windows environment it was drive C:\…

2. User Data on a separate drive. In most cases this was drive E:\… The majority were external, single partitioned. [connected to a NAS and then to “Out of Disaster” cloud service]. I intend on following this practice for a heap of reasons.

In LM22, when I click on the “File” Icon I see the “My Computer” list. Also a very familiar list of folders for users to organize their data. ie...
Desktop
Documents
Music
Pictures
Videos
Downloads

As you know, in Windows, a set of these permanent folders were in each users profile. In a way, this was good as once “hidden” from view else-where in File Explore, most users would not go digging. They would use the provided E:\ drive.

In Windows, it took great effort hide these only to have Microsoft, for some unknown reason show them at the most inopertune times.

In LM22, if I select any single folder in the list and Right-Click, one of the available actions available is “Remove”... except for Desktop. Obviously, those folders can be removed… but should I?

Thank you in advance...
