I just installed Lubuntu 22.04, and cannot find several programs needed to run my printer in 'Discover'. I have included universe repository (shows in Discover software sources), but still no joy. The programs are libcups2-dev, libcupsimpage2.dev, and cups-ppdc. I can find them on the Ubuntu software database - https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/libcups2-dev, so I assume that there is something I have missed on including repositories.

Any help of clarification would be appreciated. I see that I can add an 'other' software source via Discover, but seems like I should already have universe repository. Do I need to enable 'source code' in the software sources to get this? I am at a loss, and would like to get my printer up and running.

It would help if you tell us which printer

Thanks for the packages link.

The problem is associated with a Cannon ImageCLASS D320. When I was using Lubuntu 20.04 (prior to upgrading), the folks here helped me get the printer working. https://www.linux.org/threads/canon-imageclass-d320-printer-driver.37066/

That solution requires a number of packages which appear no longer available in the repository available. Apparently the entire upgrade management system has been changed in the transition to Lubuntu 22.04. I have made no changes in the hardware since then. If the computer hardware specifics would be helpful, I can try to dig them out.

Not sure if that brings clarity to the problem.

Packages found and installed. Apparently Discover cannot see the packages, but Muon Package Manager can see and install them. Can now at least try to install the printer driver for the Cannon printer.

thanks -- Roger
