I was thinking of buying a new laptop, one that would allow me to do some gaming and ensure smooth web browsing. My current laptop is a weak 1 Ghz netbook that my parents gave me for Christmas, and it can't do anything beyond browsing the internet and watching some videos. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 right now because later versions of Ubuntu with the Unity interface are too slow on my netbook. But I'd like to be able to try the latest distros. I'm especially interested in Gnome 3.
I am really interested in buying an Aspire 4750G, but I'm worried that a new upcoming family of technology will make this laptop obsolete the moment I buy it. What do you guys think? Is it worth it to buy this laptop or should I wait a few more months to get a newer, faster, less likely to become obsolete immediately laptop? Would it be worth the wait to hold out until later?
