I have Steam installed on Linux Mint which seems to be now installed when you install the OS. I tried to uninstall it for ... reasons ... and it came back saying that the Uninstall is missing components (or something like that) then locked out the uninstall button. So how do I uninstall it now? I really don't want to reinstall Linux. It is just now becoming a comfortable chair.

G'day

Have you tried, from Terminal

Code:
sudo apt purge steam

??

Given you are using Mint, it ships with Timeshift installed by default, it is in your Menu.

You should use it to take a Snapshot before you install software, then you can just restore to the point in time before the software was introduced.

Steam is certainly available via the Software Manager in Linux Mint.....but it is not preinstalled.

To install it must be clicked on and instruction to install, followed.

@wizardfromoz's instruction to purge it, will definitely work if it is installed

Timeshift is a godsend when things go south

Try running sudo apt purge steam in the terminal. That should help you uninstall it. And don’t forget to back up your stuff first, just in case!
