Hey guys ive been trying to learn more about networking and recently began using wireshark to analyze my internet traffic in an atempt to help better understand the different network layers, protocols and packet information.

I would like to ask if any of you use wireshark and how you learned networking concepts and if you have taken courses or know of any good resources to learn networking s it seems so vast a subject, i wasnt even sure where to begin so i decided to begin with trying to learn how my home network is put together.

Would love to hear of any insights and pearls of wisdom any of you guys have with reguard to netowrking. :)

I would personally say, start with the OSI layers mode.

After that tackle netmasks, gateways, and subnets and learn how they tie together.
(This is technically layer 3 - routing)

Then probably layer 4. TCP/UDP ports.

If you learn all that, you still won't know it all, but at least you'll have enough foundation
to decide which direction to go next.
