Sorry, it just ain't happening.

Ebay has dirt cheap deals on DDR3 memory.

And, for those that use DDR4, there was 32 GB on sale for about $30. I offered them $20 and they took the offer within a few minutes. I did offer to send them 4 x 4 GB of RAM back (as they were the 'PCs for People' group) but they declined my offer saying they were no longer interested in selling 4 GB sticks of RAM.

That's for my cheap refurb test box that turned into a retro gaming box. When I do the switch, I'd offer send the old RAM to anyone in the US that somehow needed them (assuming that I remember.)

Yeah it's hard to beat the deals Ebay has if you're willing to look imo.

I like that one.
The usual one i ask for is a full overview plus network as many of our problems are network driver related so INXI -Fnxz [F for full overview, n for specific network details and z to filter out sensitive info by adding m we get a bit more memory details, or A will give audio,G for graphics, D for drives and so on
on your own machine, first run inxi -fnx then run inxi -FAGDnmx or better still sudo inxi -FAGDnmx and see the difference [oh and never post this one on open forums its FYI only]

@Brickwizard

Cool Thanks.

I've seen some others that used sudo and displayed more than I'd want to post online.

I usually look over any of those type of info before posting online to remove what I don't want the world to know.

Can't be to safe.

I have revived my 2007 Asus laptop, screen attached already (LOL), all fine with Wilma, just the youtube is not that great.
I don't mind that much. It played movies before and it can play them again. A working dvd drive (also had to burn an installation dvd on it) isn't in modern laptops anymore. I'll keep it for the time being. I also replaced a broken hinge on it and cleaned inside, my learning project.
Last year I got myself a second hand business class Dell laptop that came with Win11 preinstalled. It is LMDE now, also a learning project. This year my Win10 will be Linux too. I took it easy, with no formal computing background I think I did quite well overall. Happy with having this alternative.

Yep you can only upgrade it so much then no more and eventually it goes to the great computer dumpster in the sky
See in my sig about keeping tech out of the landfill. :D

I have to confess, I'm probly gonna take some "legacy equipment" to the recycler this year.
