Hey I'm having trouble with installing guest additions. When I click on devices and then install guest additions it says "unable to mount the CD/DVD image" and "would you like to force the mounting of this medium?" I need help. Please and thank you. I force mounting and nothing happens. I'm tired of this small screen. I want full screen.

Hi,

maybe this article helps you:
https://www.kali.org/docs/virtualization/install-virtualbox-guest-additions-kali/

I think if you are using the right "Offensive Security" Kali version (https://www.offensive-security.com/kali-linux-vm-vmware-virtualbox-image-download/) for your VM-Host, you do not need guest additions. You can try to set your resolution in the Kali settings.
I had the same problem, but after changing the display resolution, it worked.

Greetings
Oh I'm not using VM. I'm using Virtual Box.

I'll check the link out when I have time to see if it helps and then get back to you.

@Rachmani3652 welcome to linux.org :) ( @LeTux too)

Just a couple of tips for you

1. VM means Virtual Machine, not VMWare specifically. Both Virtual Box and VMWare are VMs. @LeTux knows you are using Virtual Box, hence the advice given.

2. Until you have 30 days or so joined here, any time you quote a website URL your Post is held back for approval and comes across my desk. Given I live in Australia, you may wonder where your Post went.

So try not to quote back to someone what they already know they have said, especially if it contains a link.

Guest additions run out of the box in kali 2020. The reason that you get
"unable to mount the CD/DVD image"
is must probably bcz guest additions already mount and running.

Nah I don't think it's running. I still don't have full screen.

No luck. I'll just have to use a smaller screen.

I think I found the solution. I was running an outdated version of VirtualBox.

That could account for it.

The versions of Virtualbox and Guest Additions must match, too.

Avagudweegend :)
