This is my audio set-up
Audio: Device-1: NVIDIA vendor: ASUSTeK driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus ID: 01:00.1
chip ID: 10de:0fbc
Device-2: C-Media CMI8788 [Oxygen HD Audio] vendor: ASUSTeK driver: snd_virtuoso
v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.0 chip ID: 13f6:8788
Sound Server: ALSA v: k4.15.0-76-generic

I run the sound through my Xonar DSX sound card as the on board sound chip is disabled but I cannot access its control panel as it is only MS compatible.
It also has one other thing faulty and that is it is only using one channel not the both channels since it is a stereo board.
The single channel suggests to me that the board is only receiving a single channel input.

Any guidance or suggestions to get it function properly appreciated.

I have a friend who uses Mint. He sent me this.

Thanks for that article. :)
That gave me a bit more control and the volume is slightly improved and as for it not using both speakers I think the that maybe due to the speaker units themselves as it did that once before but righted itself.
With the controller though I still cannot select which headphone jack to use front or rear.
But I will persevere and work out a way, it will come out right in the end.
