I just set up a UBUNTO vm and I explanded the desktop to cover two monitors. This might be the problem I am having with the editor. When I type 'sudo gedit" I get this error and no editor comes up.

Two monitors would not usually be the problem the problem is that gedit can no longer be activated with root privileges using sudo. They problem is that when the changed to Wayland sudo for text editors and Nautilus will no longer work. You may be able to do it with this command
Code:
 gedit admin:///etc/<file name>
Replace /etc with the directory you need. If that does not work see this
Ask Ubuntu thread.

I got it working. I will share my my experience next weekend when I have the time
