So I just got Linux Mint MATE, I think 19.something, most recent, but whenever I close my laptop and it suspends, it crashes the OS. I have it set so it doesn't suspend, but it drains the battery. Is there a better way to go about this?

According to this thread there could potentially be an issue with your onboard wifi adapter that could be causing trouble with the suspension process. May be something to look at.

When you say that it crashes the OS, is it a kernel panic ? What message is being displayed (if any) ?
Have a detailed log of what happened (something might be in /var/log/) could help us to find the actual problem. Without this we are going to suggest a ton a irrelevant fixes.

What are the brand and model of your laptop ?
