Im a web dev and Im planning to install pop os on my laptop which has the following specs,

1Tb HDD
i5-7000 2.5GHz
Nvidia 940MX
12Gb ram

Will it run pop os smoothly?

The reason im planning to switch from windows is it made my laptop very slow, the disk usage was at 100% constantly, comming from system, service host and windows defender, it hindered me to work

With those specs, you should easily be able to install and run any Linux distro.

As others have answered, "Yes. It'll run just fine."

But...

If you have the funds, time, and technical ability, I would suggest getting a small SSD. A simple 128 GB SSD can be had for < $50 USD and will make one heck of a difference. You can store stuff on your existing drive, while using the SSD for your OS and installed applications. They'll start and load so much faster.

The real answer is, in fact, "yes". There are things that will help it run better, but really, if you want to run Linux, install it, learn it, ask quesitons, then figure out what upgrades may be needed or wanted.
