The Ubuntu .iso file size...

So what do you think about a method that will allow you to install distros that are Debian-based, Ubuntu-based, Linux Mint-based, and so on, whereby if you have just one of same distros already onboard, you can install without the need for a USB stick or a DVD, and even perform the operation offline?

If interest is expressed, I can write up an article in Forum.

...though I'm not really into distro hopping.

So I'll sweeten the offer by mentioning that with this method, you can do anything with testing an iso that you could do under a Live USB/DVD scenario or in a VM guest - check the look and feel, the graphics and audio compatibility with your system, the apps that ship with it, and so on ... all at full performance and speed.

Then if you like the distro, you can install it, no need for a big enough USB or size-limited DVD, and the iso size (growth) which is a plank in your thread here ... does not matter.
