It's brief and only covers the locate command, though I may have to do an article about how you can use locate with other commands.

Anyhow, it's nice and easy - I think. So, even new folks can probably follow along and get it.


Feedback is alright. Just alright...
 


Though locate is faster than find, I'm not a fan. Locate is good for simple searches of semi-static files, but I like find as it's much more extensible, and functional for a living, changing filesystem.
 
I'd say they both have their places. I use locate when I want to find something without manually searching for it, mostly.
 
I sometimes use it to count stuff - like how many *.mp3 files exist. With some creative adjustments, you can even make it index external drives.
