I managed to live boot kali linux in my lenovo ideapad gaming 3 ryzen 7 4800h by disabling secure boot and enabling legacy bios boot option but now when I live boot kali linux my touchpad is not working
Touchpad is working fine when I boot into windows
In kali linux also the click on touchpad is working but the curser is not moving. I tried updating and upgrading linux but no effect

Thankyou for your help in advance

Most likely you need to download the new kernel files and update you OS with the latest one available. I had similar issue on Ubuntu and had to get kernel 4.19 to make my touchpad work. There are plenty of tuts on how to do it by downloading a precompiled (easiest) kernels. IF you are adventurous, you can compile it yourself. https://www.kali.org/docs/development/recompiling-the-kali-linux-kernel/

If your touchpad is not detected (check output from libinput), you can try to add boot options i8042.notimeout i8042.nomux. If it's a new laptop and you have tried the various kernel module options, it might be a driver problem.

Are you studying pen-testing [hacking] If not then you should not be using Kali, changing the parameters of the distribution or adding non-approved apps can lock up your machine
from the Kali docs.
"As the distribution’s developers, you might expect us to recommend that everyone should be using Kali Linux. The fact of the matter is, however, that Kali is a Linux distribution specifically geared towards professional penetration testers and security specialists, and given its unique nature, it is NOT a recommended distribution if you’re unfamiliar with Linux or are looking for a general-purpose Linux desktop distribution for development, web design, gaming, etc."

studying it? Of sorts. I always want to learn new things and this is my new and shiny object! I installed it onto a USB and added persistence. Mint is my daily driver and has been since version 12. Before that my driver was mepis and before that Debian. I started my Linux Journey in 98ish with red hat. I don't mind locking it up. after all it is installed on a USB drive.

Command 'synclient' not found, but can be installed with:
sudo apt install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
