I'm waiting for Ubuntu immutable distro.
I beleive there's an immutable distro out for IOT.
I may be wrong as that happens now and then.

this may be of interest to you then.
But you will have to wait 2026.

Don’t need the assurance of an LTS? Then Ubuntu 24.10 is worth upgrading to

Really?....I find that a trifle disconcerting.

I'll go for the LTS version myself.

I've used the short term 9 month version without any problems.

Never understood the purpose of the short term 9 month version.

Same here. A lot of flash, but no lasting substance ?

Actually, if I were to be blatantly honest, I wouldn't go for either of them

I am not a fan of ubuntu.

That refers to software stability, not system stability. It's an interim release, of which there have been many - more so than long term stable releases. It's much like a zillion other distros (many that base themselves on this) who offer newer and less tested software. It's something more stable than a rolling release but less stable than a stable release like you might find with Debian or some of the paid-for enterprise distros.

I prefer stability, so I stick with those. These days, you can sign up and get like 10 years of support from Ubuntu. It's perfectly free as part of their 'pro' solution.

Ubuntu is one of them distros you either Like or don't like.

I've always liked Ubuntu and Ubuntu official flavors.

A lot of distros built from Ubuntu base.

I think a lot of the dislike for Ubuntu is Mark Shuttleworth innovations and Canonical.

Mark Shuttleworth has done a lot for Linux imo.

As much as I dislike new change I'm willing to give new change a try.

It's the OS spins built from Ubuntu which i may actually care about, so that's still good news i guess.

Can you share your dislikes about Ubuntu? I'm running Ubuntu 24.10.1 and just trying to compare dislikes? That's if you are willing to share. Thanks

I did start a reply, but decided against it. The discussion which may follow, may have turned violent !....LOL

In a nutshell, far too much like Microsoft for my liking. I turned to Linux to get away from that mindset.... Permanently.

I find the people who put out Linux Mint, to be much more straightforward and presenting greater integrity than other OS's

If I wanted 'flash and bang" I would have stayed with windows

Hey what is C 19 if you don't mind me asking and if it don't invoke any violence?? lol!!!

Covid 19 ...."
The virus was initially known as the ‘Novel Coronavirus (nCoV-2019)’, but it’s now officially named Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

Any clandestine tips&tricks you can recommend for LMC22??

Keep it Simple. Relax, it's not trying to steal your firstborn !

Now that I think about it, my list for 'keeping it simple' is absurdly long.

I often post this thread as a good guide....and it is good !

....and besides, it saves me a tonne of typing !
in general....keep it updated...update everything....set up Timeshift (good article at that link) download apps etc from the repository only (exception where it cannot be found elsewhere....but be careful)
And last but not least?....keep a backup !

www.Rescuezilla.com

Timeshift and Rescuezilla on an external drive (drive formatted to ext4...takes both of them without dramas)

I forgot......turn the Firewall ON

I appreciate the advice. I'm working on getting a 1 TB external hard drive, them things aren't that cheap. I will review the resource you provided. Thanks...
