So this is my question guys, I have my device already setup as a dual/multi boot, windows11/Linux Mint Cinnamon22. I have downloaded Ubuntu to a good usb, the other usb I have kept telling me it was write protected so I couldn't do nothing with it. Anyway, can I still run Ubuntu as a live stream? I tried to reboot from windows so that I could have the option to reboot from the usb with ubuntu but that didn't happen. Thanks guys....

MBR/BiOS or GPT/uEFi?

If it's an option have a tiny partition dedicated to rEFInd, which detects all installed OSes dynamically after every reboot, on top of finding external USB bootable OSes as well. The it would help launching an OS with HardInfo pre-installed and ready to execute, like MX as i vaguely recall.

Hey I don’t understand what you’re explaining , “have a tiny partition dedicated to rEFind”?? Is there a resource here that I can use to get directions to set that up? I’m not familiar with this.

When I was running windows 11 only, I could reboot and have the option to select the usb and then Linux Mint would run live os. I tried to reboot from windows this time and it didn’t take me to the option to select the usb. It took me to the screen where the Linux mint, windows11 and a couple other options, can’t remember what they was. So do I have to much installed on my device and trying to run Ubuntu live??

JUST do exactly the same as you did when installing mint, when asked choose install alongside other's and let the partition tool do it for you.

Switch off insert usb and switch on jiggling F12 to open short boot menu and select USB [if USB doesn't show then you have a problem with it

Hey that did work. Brought me to the short menu, i selected the usb with ubuntu and selected enter and i was taken to the screen with the options of linux mint, advanced linux settings, windows boot manager and UEFI settings. so idk where my error is yet. If i insert the usb while on linux this is what im seeing on it. im going to leave this screen shot. Screenshot from 2024-09-11 09-16-47.png

I give up!!!!!!!!!! I can not figure out whats happening. Its obvious that I have all the Ubuntu files on the usb, but every time i reboot and select Ubuntu, from the short boot menu, it brings me directly to the place to select linux or windows.. I'm racking my brain trying to figure it out. Guess I need to take a break and regroup for a minute...

The 'rEFInd' (0.13.2-1+b1) utility authored by by Roderick W. Smith is available from many Linux software managers, like that of Mint for example. A tiny 15M1 CD .ISO image-file is also contained in 'refind-cd-0.14.2.zip' found over there with SHA1/MD5 ("i") control sums:
