Used computer + distro decision?

Toshiba Satellite L455D
AMD Sempron SI-42 2.10 Ghz
4.00 GB Ram (2.87 gb usable) -Windows 7 32 bit system installed
223 GB HD

I am relatively new to linux and have only limitied experience in the past.Briefly tried either Puppy or Mint years ago on my previous machine for a few hours.

This computer does what i need it to, however it doesn't handle flash videos that well at all. As it spikes my cpu usage up to 100% with easy.

Any suggestion? Looking for something stable with a desktop environment that my older computer can handle well.

Haven't decided dual/live cd/vm or fresh install yet if that matters.

I second Lubuntu or Antix. Semplice Linux I'm using at the moment seems ok.

How about Xubuntu? It should be lightweight enough for your system.
