What you recommended operating system for my very old PC?

I have been installed Debian last distribution. But have not been found Sound driver AC'97 for one(have driver for Windows only). Debian have not been sound. Also Debian last distribution been slowly on my PC. May be you known suitable OS for my PC? For been learning language java, gcc and see youtube =)
PC: AMD Sempron 2600+ 1.6GHz cache 128Kb
MB: EPoX LTD nForce3 DDR 8KDA7I
Chipset: Nvidia nForce3 250Gb
RAM: 1024Mb PC3200 DDR Hyudai
Video: ATI Radeon 9600XT(V350) 16Mb
Sound: Nvidia nForce3 AC'97

Check out Linux Mint. Mint supplies lots of drivers, is based on Ubuntu, which is based on Debian, so it should still feel familiar if you're used to Debian.

AC 97 thats the "Crab" realtec ! i think there have been support troubles if sound is not on board or if free slots new sound card ?
