Devyn,
Thanks for making mention of ReactOs. I had never heard of it before, and am still attempting to wean the other half off Win. Perhaps this will have a chance of completing that task:D:D. Thanks again, and keep those articles coming, mate!:):)

I have openSUSE 13.2 XFCE and it's solid as a rock. I came from Windows about 5 weeks ago. openSUSE is easy to install. Linux has been a learning experience. These forums like this help a lot. I have openSUSE they way I want it and running well.

I'm experimenting with Mint Xfce these days, and is such a beauty.

@Gentookie There are many distros, so I cannot easily discuss all of them. Plus, of all of the main distro families, Gentoo is the one I know the least about.

This is an interesting discussion with different opinions and experiences. With so many Linux distros, GUI, and security it can be confusing picking the right one for yourself. I am currently using openSUSE13.2 Xfce which I like a lot but I am curious. Can Tails be installed permanently or is it just a temporary install? What is the GUI name for ChaletOS that looks like Windows XP?

Crippled,
From what I can find, ChaletOS is based on Xubuntu, and it uses the XFCE desktop. Hope this helps mate!:D
Ciao for now
