Hi

I have been using Linux for a few months. (Using my PC for some office work, internet, light gaming)

I have tried Linux Mint and Manjaro (Gnome 40)
The problem is the Graphics card (I think) After installing Nvidia drivers in Linux Mint I had black screen for a minute after reboot.
Manjaro stoped working after an update (I might try OpenSuse Tumbleweed or Fedora 35)

I am thinking to change my graphics card to AMD. Is AMD card a better graphics card for Linux??? Would AMD graphics card eliminate the graphics problems in general??? I just want to use my PC not keep fixing it.
Would one of these cards be a good choice? "AMD HD 7750, 7770 or HD 7790 " (I don't need an expensive card)
Thank you.

My spec:
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z77N-WIFI
CPU: Intel i5 3570
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650
16GB DDR3 Ram (Samsung SSD)

welcome to the forums

can you open a terminal and enter inxi -G and paste back the results

if you haven't got inxi then try sudo apt install inxi in the terminal

This is like asking is ford or chevy better?

but in my opinion, both are good.

Here it is:

Graphics:
Device-1: NVIDIA GK107 [GeForce GTX 650] driver: nvidia v: 470.86
Display: x11 server: X.org 1.21.1.1 driver: loaded: nvidia
unloaded: fbdev,modesetting,vesa resolution: <missing: xdpyinfo>
OpenGL: renderer: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650/PCIe/SSE2 v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 470.86

unloaded: fbdev,modesetting,vesa resolution: <missing: xdpyinfo>
this looks like it may be the problem

as for AMD graphic cards all but the latest have good support in linux

I don't want to know which one is better in performance. I have heard that AMD is better supported and don't have the problems like the Nvidia has.
I don't mind which card I have, I just need a stable OS and minimize the need to deal with graphics issues every time I update my system.

I'm currently using using an AMD card, before this card I had always been using Nvidia cards and never had any issues. Generally you are going to have an easier time under Linux with an AMD graphics card although Nvidia cards normally work just as fine. I've seen Proton reports where people with Nvidia cards weren't able to run a game but those with AMD graphics card were able to, that's all I can say.

If AMD cards are better supported, would it be easier to get a different GPU than deal with the problems all the time?
I am sorry, but I just want to use my PC not keep fixing it.
