I just installed Ubuntu 20.04 onto my 10 year old laptop , so first worked perfectly fine , i was very pleased,
but then say 5 minutes after connecting my wifi (my mobile hotspot) i was getting problem with the wifi first it started showing the "?" on the wifi symbol and it when i tried reconnecting i got a error saying "Activation of network connection failed"
Rhis is happening every time i connect to wifi , i tried connecting to other hotstops,
What should i do i just cannot connect to internet in my laptop

EDIT: information about my wifi card :

$ lspci -nnk | grep -A2 0280
03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Ralink corp. RT3290 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe [1814:3290]

I had a similar issue with an earlier version of Ubuntu, I had to download the recommended drivers from the wireless card manufactures site. once they were installed I didn't have anymore issues.

Hey, thanks for this but can u please tell me how can i find the drivers in software and updates > Additional drivers i can only see "no additional drivers available"
my wifi card details i found by searching the cammand :

I tried looking for more recent drivers but there seems to be non-available, you could either try to use a newer kernel by using the mainline tool or you could try this.

You might want to have a look here

There is also this solution as discussed in the Mint forum. It involves changing a power configuration for the wifi driver. It's shown in the 10th post in the thread by a user named "antioch".

So i tried many things, got no luck then one day i turn off the "Wake by WLAN" setting in BIOS , because my ubuntu was rebooting sec after it gets shutdown, the rebooting problem remains
but my wifi is now working nicely...
