This might be a very dumb question but I am learning.

I am on a laptop that has 32gb DDR4 and 1gb of that is reserved. Is it possible to add to that? For example, could I reserve 2 or 4gb?

I have been google searching but not really finding anything helpful. I am on 64bit Arch Linux.

Thank you in advance!

When you say "reserve".. what exactly do you mean?
Reserve for what in what way?

Are you talking about a RAM disk?

It's possible to reserve memory with the kernel parameter: memmap= , and force usage of a specific region of memory. Existing memory already reserved as default may be used for a number of uses, such as the GPU, root functions, or other hardware manipulations. Whilst memmap can define reservations, how to have it used for a particular purpose in a running system is another level of investigation.

I have no idea what you mean by...1GB of that is reserved.

If you have 32GB of RAM...I wouldn't worry about anything.
