Hi.
I have an ASUS Strix Soar sound card, which doesn't output any sound on boot. Not sure if it's detected at all.
I have to reboot several times (5-10 times usually) for it to work. I have had this issue on all different Linux distros I've tried. Tried normal Arch install, EndeavourOS (Which I'm on now) and Fedora over a period of a few months so would be different versions as well.
The jack output on the front works fine and I assume the one on the motherboard itself does as well, but I haven't tested.
When the sound works, there will be like a physical click sound from my pc, like a switch turning on. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the click sound isn't present when the sound doesn't work.
I'm pretty new, but I've looked around and tried many different solution, without luck.
Not sure what info else is needed.
Motherboard is X570 Aorus Elite

First thing to check is to see if the sound has been muted. Regardless of your sound server, which is likely either pulseaudio or pipewire, you can check the sound levels by using the command:
Code:
alsamixer
in a terminal. When in the display that comes up, press the F5 key to show all volumes. If any are muted, unmute them. Press F1 for help with the usage. Basically, use the up and down keys to raise the volumes if they are low.

Another alternative for unmuting is to run the pavucontrol program and click the mute button off.

Since the jack plug works "fine", the sound system sounds like it's okay in basics anyway, but yet to be configured perhaps.

Thank you for the reply.
It's not present anywhere in audio settings etc.
Usually it shows up as STRIX SOAR, but it's just not present at all.

Can you install the package: alsa-utils, if it's not there? It includes the alsamixer program. And install the package: pavucontrol if it's not there? They provide the tools to help with sound issues. And to see what's controlling your sound devices, run the command in a terminal:
Code:
lsof /dev/snd/*

It's normally present as STRIX SOAR here when it works.

This is the output from the command:
Code:
[mosse@Mosse ~]$ lsof /dev/snd/*
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
pipewire 1070 mosse 55u CHR 116,1 0t0 640 /dev/snd/seq
pipewire 1070 mosse 56u CHR 116,1 0t0 640 /dev/snd/seq
wireplumb 1098 mosse 42u CHR 116,13 0t0 998 /dev/snd/controlC1
wireplumb 1098 mosse 44u CHR 116,7 0t0 977 /dev/snd/controlC0

I can hear a tiny bit of noise from the headset itself when my pc is booting when it works, and nothing when it doesn't work, if that info is helpful. Feels like it doesn't register my sound card at boot.

Thanks for the output. It helps. The first thing I note is that volume in the master control in alsamixer is not at it's maximum. If you move the colour bar up to the top, using the up arrow key, then at least you'll be able to discount the volume control as a problem. Then press F5 and move the bars up on any other controls. Ensure that there is no "MM" at the base of any of the bars since that indicates mute. You can toggle that off with m.

The sound devices look to be controlled properly for the pipeware sound server.

If no sound is still apparent, you can return to alsamixer and select each of the sound cards in turn to see if any of them provide a better outcome, making sure that the volumes are all turned up to maximum in each case. See if any of that helps.

There is no control at all for my sound card.
This is what it looks like when it does work fine:

This is what it looks like when it doesn't work:

It's just missing completely, also when I look in pavucontrol it's gone.
